How are they playing in a backyard at Chaos in Tejas? I don't know much about the festival but for some reason that just doesn't add up to me.

That's how Austin and Chaos are. A good chunk of bands playing Chaos play 2 to 3 shows. Secret shows, Bridge shows, after shows...It's the best fest in the country.
