THE (sort of) OFFICIAL PHILLY THREAD

General discussion, shows, and everything else.

Postby worldxdownfall » Fri Mar 18, 2011 2:01 pm

Alright, Boston has one and I think some west coast dorks do too. Since a thousand people make Philly threads, I'll use this first post for links and shinfo everyone needs on Filthadelphia.

This is also doubling as a "Fuck Lorenzos/SEPTA/Philly Parking Authority" thread. Don't bother shitting up this thread complaining about hipsters/whatever nerdery has your panties in a bunch.

PM me if you want any changes made to this. I'm on here for the better part of my 8 hour work day M-F.

You can still skate what is left of LOVE park, but only at night though and you may still get run off.

They took out the marble benches at city hall (rip), but I am sure you can still skate the 6 stairs at night.

FDR Park is accessible via the Broad St. Line of the subway (just get off at the stediums, and its a short skate away).

Anyone know if Burnt Cat is still alive?

Hope this post helped a tiny bit

Cool, a list of bars. I still don't know which to go to. Plus user reviews are almost always written by morons. I'd rather hear people's opinions/descriptions in this thread.

Or South Philly. I'd rather not go west of University City, or north of Temple. But I'd still like a list of good bars for people to hit without having to go to some dive or overpriced place on south.

Check out Philly comedy.

Monday- The X-Change (20th and Ludlow) or The Urban Saloon across the street from Eastern State.

Tuesday- Helium and Noche

Wednesday- Sketch Playground (Improv and Sketch) at Tabu on 12th and Walnut. This isn't weekly, but I think the next one is April 6th.

Thursday- The Raven Lounge (17th and Sansom)

Those are mostly open mics, but you'll see a ton of great comics. I'm not sure about Noche or Helium, but everything else is free.

Where's Lazaro's?

Repo on South Street is a pretty good record store. I found some cool hardcore/powerviolence records in a store on 4th in Center City but I forget what its' called.

AKA Music is toomey for getting tickets for R5 shows but isn't that great for records.

My favorite bars:
Doobie's (22nd & Lombard)
Drinker's (2nd & Market or 19th & Chestnut)
Ten Stone, only because it's literally a block from where I live (21st & South)
Oscar's (15th & Sansom)

Lazaro's is at 18th & South. Shit's shitbird. Best pizza around, IMO.

allow me to add honey's sit n eat, cantina los caballitos, and the belgian cafe as my favorite places to eat. and the belgian is also a bar with a billion beers, and one (decent) non-alcoholic beer for fellas like me.

olde city to get tattooed (they get a bad reputation for attitude but I found it welcoming and they get some of the best artists around)

groom to get your hair cut if you're a dude (I recommend Joe but the other guy is probably good too)

also, posting to make new friends. totally serious. I live out in montgomery county but my girl lives in west philly and I'm downtown often enough.
