it's too bad you are all the way across the country...i just got my m class so i've been looking at bikes. thinking about getting a cafe racer or a bobber. but your bike is awesome.

i took one of those state motorcycle safety classes.....its like 8hrs of class and ride time spread out over two days...prior to my first day of class ive never even sat on a motorcycle.

dual infiniti fx35 projector headlight retrofit, shorty pazzo adjustable levers, lowered an inch, level one racing exhaust. i now have the rear seat cowl on it as well.

and to the guy who asked about learning to ride.. honestly i bought a bike and just started riding it. no one's really gonna let you ride their motorcycle to learn how to ride, so it's either buy one and make yourself learn, or take the MSF course.

'70 Harley Davidson sportster. Homemade hardtail lowered and stretched 4 inches. Gotta finish up making the new battery box, make oil fittings and run the lines, finally finish all the wiring then cover the seat and make a new sissy bar then I'll finally be able to ride it. Pipe angles have been fixed since the picture along with a few other things.

before i bought my softtail, i was looking at triumphs, mostly the bonnevilles. i love the old cafe style bikes, but i knew i wouldn't be as comfortable on longer trips, so i opted for the harley.

either way, i love riding. it's funny how fanatical i am about checking weather forecasts now, haha

if i had a garage where i could tool around on bikes, i'd definitely have project-bikes like some of the ones above. love the bikes that are stripped down to the bare minimum

Made this today. Kinda too long at first, but now I think its fucking awesome and Im gonna run it as is. Just gotta make some fender mounts and a skateboard rack.

My dad has an 85 Kawasaki 550 he said he'd sell to me for $600. But it's been sitting for a while, do motorcycle tires dry rot, or would they still be good, think it's been sitting for like 9 years or so. But it's also an 85 in pretty good condition with only like 13k. Only thing is he let my ride it a few times to get the hang of shifting and stuff, and it's top heavy as a motherfucker. Don't know if I'm just too used to riding my little scooter, and that's how all bikes are, or if it's just a really tall bike. Like I'm 5'9'' and can't sit flat footed on it. Apparently it's not all bikes, because my dad said his HD is much better balanced, but still. I want to get it because it's a good deal, but still feel it might be a little too big physically. But still. I've been wanting to get a bike for the last couple years but never had the cash to cover the bike, course, and insurance.

see if your pops will sell the bike for cheaper, or if you can make payments?

in illinois, i took the class, which was expensive. something like $400. BUT, the state offers a free course, you just have to sign up waaaayyy in advance to get in. and i hear it's not as good. i highly recommend taking a course though, as opposed to self-taught. there were some old timers in my class who learned a good amount, and they had been riding for years.

I am very afraid of dropping a decent amount on a bike just to chop it though. Found a build your own bobber site, total cost was something like 3200, but the motors are way undersized.

I got my motorcycle license because my parents made it understood I would need it after christmas time. They got me a scooter that tops out at 60 and has an automatic transmission.

Whatever though, it gets me where I'm going.

I've got around maybe 2k into it including the cost of the bike. I got it as a goofy stock roller with a basket case motor that I rebuilt. All of the extra stuff like oil tank, hardtail, pegs, and stuff like that are either handmade by me, reworked stock parts, or swap meet finds.

I have an 01 Sportster XLC. I bought it new with 3 miles. I lived in Hawaii with it for 3 years and used it every day. I also drove it year round in Norfolk except the very very cold days. I drove it out to San Diego about a year and a half ago and I use it everyday but I need to get the motorcycle safety course (again)

2005 SV650. Picked this up for 3000$ back in January. I practically stole it for the value it was worth. Also saving 800$ a month on insurance compared to my 'sports car' (a 1996 integra GSR)

My first bike was a 95 GS550E suzuki that I blew the front cylinder driving it on the freeway. After that my dad helped me rebuild a 1992 XL1200 (sportster) that I fucking loved. I had to do a complete bottom end rebuild on it and worked my ass off to replace pretty much everything but the engine case. I had some S&S supertrap pipes that were on my dad's 91 XL1200. He also gave me his S&S E Carb and I bought a forward swept air intake. My bike was 97 horsepower with I think 523 ft lbs of torque, I think. My dad's 91 was named Evilution, we painted Evilution Reincarnate on my bike. So eventually I got into drag racing with it and had my dad ride it. I think we had our lowest was a 8.3 q mile at 132 MPH. Word got around and it got stolen I was at a vagos function with my dad and some of his friends and someone stole my fucking bike. worst day of my life, 8000 bucks down the drain

Don't buy shit from websites...if you wanna build a real bobber, learn about bikes and go from shop to shop asking the mechanics/owners if they got any extra shit. I built everything on my sporty (bought the sporty for 1k, fixing the frame was 1k also) and the only brand new thing I bought was my carb and my lower end kit. It helps to have friends in your local motorcycle scene. Just hang out with the dudes, talk to them, and they'll hook you up. You can build a fucking rad bobber for easily 3-4k. Ground up. IMO sporties and panheads make the best bobbers.
if you're going with a panhead though you better have a steady supply of cash to fix it up
