I'm a layrite fan personally.

when its hot out nothing will hold. its just gonna melt. You can hit it with a shot of hairspray to help, though. I did the murrays (ultra light in the winter, regular in the summer) for a few years, got tired of feeling greasy all the time, and staining pillow cases. Believe it or not Axe makes a water based pomade that you can get anywhere for under $6.

How have you used murrays and royal crown? Those are at two opposite ends of the spectrum.

my boyfriend used a bunch of shit, murrays, layrite, la bella, and royal crown. you may also need to reshape the cut,if it's not holding, \ so go get a trim.

I bought this recently because I was out of layrite and had a hot date that night. It was pretty good. Held up for maybe 5 hours, wasn't too "thinning" like some cheap pomades, and washed out great as expected.

My hair is 6-8inches on the top, and like a 3 on the sides faded. I use Murray's once a week and then I just throw in some Royal Crown to tame a few strays.

OP; post a picture of your hair?
fuck it, can we just get another hair thread?
murrays works wonders for me, and I'm all the way down south. Not sure why it wouldn't keep up for you.

i use a "styling cream" made by the crew. it's the middle strength, my hair is very uncooperative, and i live in the humid south and i have no problems with it. i just think it smells like a funeral home, but everyone else says after shave. it was $8 at a beauty supply store.

If murrays doesn't hold it, i don't know what will. I had to stop using murrays because it was TOO thick and had TOO much hold. I use that crew shit from walmart.

Or less than that, if you aren't sweating on a constant basis. Your hair will be much healthier, won't smell, and you won't have overly dry hair all the time. Still use a bit of it myself, though.

I live in Central Arkansas, it was 105 yesterday so as soon as I step outside my head instantly starts sweating. I was my hair something like every third day. I usually throw some pomade in on the first day after washing.

I used to use American Crew pomade with a little bit of Murray's and some fiber paste as a base. Perfect hold until it got hot out.

OP should change the thread title back to pomade so people looking for something to hate stay out? Just a thought.
Also, I'm in the market for something new to hold my hair. Until like a year ago I used to just buzz my head, then I started parting it once I got a real job (read: office, not necessarily real). I've been using Brylcreem since, and it's perfect for the first few hours then it starts to give up.
I want to try that Three Flowers stuff (Fuck Off: you can get it at like any Duane Reade/Pharmacy with a larger selection), but my only question is: is it real sticky? I don't want my hair feeling like a bukake party.

Axe pomade with a shot of super hold hairspray, lasts all day and can reactivate it in the morning with a splash of hot water and a touch up with another dab of grease.

Are there any convenient places to purchase layrite? I am curious to try it, but I do not want to go on a scavenger hunt for it.

How many times must I tell you mooks? Murrays + La Bella #9.
Layrite is just too expensive to even deal with. You're essentially buying a name, not a product.

Hahaha.
On the real though Royal Crown is just straight up grease. You'd be better off lubricating an engine with it.
