Remember seeing this via a VHS I got sent from a pen-pal from 6 hours away. I lived in a village of 700. He a village of 1500. No record shops or cities. Just letters.

I guess their label never had that "reach". They ended up being some space death metal band. But their first two albums are amazing.

Nah. No wonder. Very few people knew them even if their 2nd album was on Century Media if I remember correctly.
It was the early 90's.
I have no idea how I found out about them. But the first two records Abject Offerings and Coloured Funeral were released before 94. 93 presumably. Both are fantastic. Coloured is even better!
After that it got too proggy and synthy for its own good.

In my opinion, the two most criminally unknown death metal albums:

Because every wizard rap thread turns into a cluster fuck and I sometimes crave more death metal, I will be posting in this thread instead.

don't know how I've gone this long without hearing of Mercyless. That riff around 2:15 (give or take 10 seconds) is obscenely fucking heavy. Holy shit.
been listening to a shitload of the first two Malevolent Creation albums again lately.

hahaha gurgle death metal!
Demilich got love in the old thread and here, again. Really good stuff.
Godless Rising is a band I had the fortune of getting to know this year via my blog. They bring the old school death metal, though spiced with thrash and ghoulish melodies, without sounding like jokers. But rather sounding tr00 as shit.
...There's so much here to sink your teeth into. Late Carcass and Death-like melodic and catchy parts, evil, perverted and twisted riffs a la Blessed Are The Sick, tempos at bursting speeds to slowed-down paces reminiscent of a stalking predator, blasphemous lyrics, dynamic vocal delivery, merciless drumming with particular personality, and solos that would make James Murphy and Andy LaRocque proud. Add to that the sharp, high-note riffs synonymous with Pestilence you've got yourself a stimulating whole...
