looks like the old thread died.
I just picked up a sixer of Great Divide Titan IPA on sale for only $9. Beer prices are getting ridiculous, but it's better than drinking crap.
I'm really in the mood for some Avery Karma Ale.
recently drank-
Dos Equis
Sierra Nevada Bigfoot Barleywine
Bell's Expidition Imperial Stout
Stoudt's Winter Ale
Terrapin Rye Pale Ale

My roommate brews his own beer. He finished his third batch last night, it was dark belgian ale. They've all turned out delicious so far.
On a more trashy note, does anyone know if they still make Olde English in 64oz bottles?

I've seen beer in bottles bigger than 40oz, but not Olde English, and not in Florida (biggest the law allows here is 32oz).
I also make my own beer, but it's been about a year and a half since my last batch. But as soon as I get a couple of paychecks, I'm going to start up again.
Unless anyone wants to send me $50 to brew some up now.

fullers vintage ale 2007 x4
o'fallon smoked porter from pappy van winkle barrels x2
sierra nevada big foot 2007
victory barleywine (i will drink this some time this year)
schlafly barleywine 2007
anchor old foghorn barleywine 2007
i forget what else

I'm with you, I don't see what the big deal with Belgian beers is, but I do really like Chimay. I'm sure there are other beers that taste similar for cheaper too, I just haven't found any like it yet.

Chimay Grande Reserve (the blue bottle) is my favorite of the Chimay, that red one you had is very similar to La Fin du Monde, in that its triple fermented. I thought the flavor was close as well.
My wife was happy that Nashville it is now possible to get Boulevard.

I also have a hard time getting into most belgians. There have been a handful I liked, but nothing I'd really miss if I couldn't get it again.
There are some US brewers that have Belgian style beers I love though, like Stoudts Triple and Avery Salvation.

Check this if you get a chance. Budweiser just started distributing it.
Its called Wild Blue. Its Blueberry lager made with all real blueberry and blueberry juice. Its pretty good. Like 8% alcohol. Its from a small brewery in New York so some of you might have seen/had it before

Germany has a few beers is really love, but the British Isles win for all round best traditional brewing culture.
also, Norway and Sweden have some really good breweries.

it's a cleveland brewery. they make some good stuff. blackout stout is available 2-3 months a year. i keep forgetting they don't distribute outside of the area at all. they made this imperial ipa called lake erie monster that they had on tap at the brewpub for a bit. they then botted it and sold it in 22 oz bottles so i bought a couple. mad expensive but its a damn good beer.
