RIP Onno Cro-Mag

Noted Dutch hardcore enthusiast and journalist Onno Cro-Mag has passed away at the age of 49. Our own Chris Wrenn had this to say about Onno [pictured right]:
"It is with a very heavy heart that I have learned that the European Hardcore community (and the world, really) has lost a true pioneer. Onno Cro-Mag, 49, has passed away. Onno was a large, outspoken proponent for hardcore in Europe. I met him for the first time in Holland on a European Slapshot tour in 2002. Onno worked with Laurens at Iscream Records, and after seeing NY's On The Rise play a show with Slapshot, we agreed to license the "Burning Inside" album that ISR had recently released in Europe. Over the years, Bridge Nine collaborated on Slapshot's "Digital Warfare" album with Iscream, and I had the pleasure of seeing Onno on various European tours. Onno ALWAYS looked out for Bridge Nine's bands. When Agnostic Front lost their main support band for a tour in '05 he called me for suggestions and took on Death Before Dishonor, which lead to their first European tour (and another 6 weeks with AF in the states when the European tour was over). Onno worked at Aardshock Magazine and would make sure that our bands got full page features when other magazines couldn't be bothered. He looked out for a lot of bands, and helped untold numbers of American hardcore bands get a foothold in Europe, and it is truly a sad day here at the Bridge Nine office and for anyone who ever had the pleasure of knowing Onno. Rest in peace, brother."
