Cheap ass bosses

I just my paystub for Friday. I worked 40.45 hrs last week and my check reflects 40hrs. My boss doesn't want me to do any OT unless its passed by him but last week I stayed late twice because I was hung up on the phone with vendors.

Maybe he gypped me because I didn't ask if it was okay to work longer for him?

So b9, Do I bring this up or do I wait to see if this because a routine thing and then bring it up?

We are a company of 17-ish. Guys always nickles and dimes his employees but you gotta give some to get some.

New York overtime laws require that employers pay non-exempt employees overtime any time the employee works more than 40 hours in a work week. Currently, NY overtime laws do not require overtime pay for hours worked in excess of 8 a day until the overtime number of 40 hours in a week has been reached.

Remind him that you do not work for free, and give him the option of you just hanging up on vendors or walking out immediately when the 40 hours hits, and see what is his preference. Otherwise he needs to give you at least 1 hour of OT flexibility per pay period to make up for the instances where you can't finish your job at 40 hours on the dot.
