Maybe Halladay cuz he's dead?

I just read this and thought those those two are the only shot for first ballot entrants.

Getting old as fuck seeing those names up there... There's gonna be a huge crop from this era and some are going to be left out.

But i'm really just posting to get on that pizza rat train.

Trot Nixon comes to mind now.

It's only Saturday home games but I'm definitely going for one. Trying to find a week where Mets and Yanks both play.

Trot Nixon was never in that Bruce or Bay tier. He was just a scrappy white dude. I bet people outside Boston never knew who he was.

Yep, there were. They knew what they were getting into. I personally hate the Angels as a franchise so it's hard for me to be bummed even if Ohtani was doing a cool baseball thing.

yeah he had normal wear and tear. Its also not confirmed hes getting TJ yet. The Angels are hopeful he'll be back this season but I rather they just rest him. No need to rush him back at this point.

Nimmo was just clearly HBP. Umpire said he wasn't, Callaway argued and immediately got tossed. Pretty sure the umpire is that loon from Saturday night the Yankees were rightly getting pissed at.

He definitely stuck his chickenwing out there. Not that that matters 9 times out of 10, but it was funny.

The guy who originally posted it on the mets subreddit:
There’s a few ways. I myself work in the sports production world. When we mic up players we keep all the audio. Ump was probably hot micd during the game. Guessing someone at FOX Sports was going thru the archives and came across this gem.

Seriously the boiling point is being reached on MLB/baseball interest, trying to bring in new fans, create exciting storylines or just stop the bleeding as far as overall interest go and you have something that got millions of streams, had a relatively positive response (look at this, its great!!!, give me more!!! Love this inside info!!!! etc etc etc) and instead MLB is like nah, we'd rather you not enjoy something and we'll continue to die a slow death, thanks.

I do occasionally wonder if the owners even understand what draws people to baseball these days, or that the market they should be chasing probably won't watch 100 games a year.

Manfred might be worse than Bud, jesus fuck

At least Bud just turned a blind eye to something that was objectively helping baseball become more popular. Manfred is actively working to make baseball WORSE.

Jerry Reinsdorf was right.

As the debate raged on within the meeting room at the Hyatt Regency in Baltimore, Reinsdorf, in championing his candidate, Red Sox co-owner Tom Werner, who previously owned the San Diego Padres, took pains to say that Manfred had never been a CEO of anything and that he is only a labor lawyer, and not a very good one at that. In short, he wasn't nearly qualified.

They really shouldve made Werner the commish.

He's a goofy idiot but the Red Sox probably market their players/team as well as anyone else in the league.

Baseball teams don't need to market their own players. The individual acts that make up the sport market themselves. Boston and the yankees players get pop from their media market and legacy but anybody that makes highlight plays gets credit. That's what so ridiculous about shutting down twitter gifs. Viral gifs inspire interest in the player and team, are entirely free and gets penetration that dwarfs what that same play on sportcenter gets.

I would probably not know who Blake "The Witch" Treinen was if not for Twitter and that dude is filthy. Baseball will never be the most popular sport and they seem intent on keeping it that way. Its confusing. Maybe in 10-20 years when it's people who grew up in this era are running the show things will get better?
