All Things NYHC

General discussion, shows, and everything else.

Postby French Fries » Wed Jul 17, 2013 7:33 am

Hey, I'd figure I'd make a topic for everything related to New York Hardcore, infos, anecdotes, rarities etc ...

Everything that popped out the Big Apple from Antidote to Leeway to Red Eyed Devil and everything in between.

I've recently got my hands on demo and live sets from the following Brooklyn bands : Nobody's Perfect, Crown Control and 3rd Column, does anyone has any infos on those bands ?? I'll post the links if anyone's interested.

Nobody's Perfect?!?! PLEASE rip and post that demo. Saw them a couple times in the early 90's, remember digging them, but I don't have any intimate knowledge of the band.

Well that was fast, thank you!

Definitely saw them at the Boiler Room (or it might have still been Rosie O'Grady's then) in New Britain, CT. Any show there would have featured Mindwar and probably Jasta 14 but I have no recollection of the actual lineup. Caught them again at the Urban Jungle/Rock Bar/Tune Inn (again, who knows what name the club was using at the time) in New Haven, CT. Stoked to download this demo because I haven't heard them since then but remember liking what I heard. Thanks again.

Aaron, did we see NP at that Warzone show at The Boiler Room?
I know I saw NP at the boiler room near the end of their career, but I don't remember what other bands were on the bill.
I saw NP in new haven and norwalk too, they used to play somewhat frequently. I still have their first demo tape (witness this...), and I made mp3s of it that sound ok, but I never got their 2nd demo (steps toward deception) until fairly recently, and its someone elses poorly sourced mp3s from the internet

It could very well have been the Warzone show, yeah. All the shows from that era sort of blend together in my head. Poster French Fries up'd the Witness This demo above. Good sound quality too from what I listened to so far. I never knew there was a second demo. Would love to hear that too if anybody's got a digital copy they's like to post.

Emotive Drive

From NJ but nobody seems to know them really well but they are awesome if you ask me.

http://unitedbyrocketscience.blogspot.m ... l?spref=fb
http://emotivedrive.bandcamp.com/

"The band originated as a "funcore" band called "The Perverted Nerds" out of Belleville/Nutley NJ in 1987 with original bassist Tim. Over time the lyrical content became more serious and the sound evolved in a NYHC direction. The band parted ways with Tim and Shane took over on bass and the name was changed to Emotive Drive. 1989 was a good year including Sunday hardcore matinees at CBGBs with Cause For Alarm and Supertouch and a show at the Anthrax Club in Connecticut with Supertouch. By the end of 1989 the scene became very violent and the original lineup parted ways due to personal differences. In 1990 the band reformed with new vocalist Tommy and drummer Rich. Rich left to join Supertouch and was replaced by Ralph on drums. Shane also left and was replaced by Mike on bass. Shows were played mostly at Studio One (one with the Bad Brains) and the Pipeline as well as live on WFMU. By 1993 the band had strayed musically from its hardcore roots and called it quits. In 1995 Mark, Brian, and Shane went on to form Implode "

Weird, this video is labelled Leeway-1987, but I was at this show and it was in early 91, in Boston at The Channel Club.
And that NP video someone posted above is great, half the live footage is from the Urban Jungle in New Haven CT, and I recognize some old friends in the crowd. Good times

ohh...and Dynamo is really underrated I think. Maybe it's because they never released something on a big label and these records were really hard to find.

Emotive Drive is pretty good, I like those tracks.

I also found two Fit Of Anger releases, that are not on the Blogged & Quartered Compilation :
The 1990 demo : http://www.mediafire.com/?1ivdtlzmeyn
Live at WNYU : http://www.mediafire.com/?gbzlg1nclzg

That band was awesome as well, great groove and good songs. The CD on Kingfisher records has the weirdest artwork ever though.

Anyone has any Show Of Force releases except for the 1990 demo ??

Edit : also, does anyone has any infos on the Altercation demo being re-released on 7" ??

Thanks a lot Fred for the Fit of Anger stuff. Still need these demo tapes.

I'm searching for the first Show of Force demo too but till now no luck. I asked a couple of people but nobody seems to have it.

Altercation:

If you want to order in Europe:
http://www.xsentientx.com/6389-altercat ... 7quot.html
It's expensive but I think they are looking really good.
