Haniger and Gamel are both good and Kyle Lewis might be a September call up next year, so I don't really think they have the room. Of course, if he wants to sign there then maybe they try to play Gamel in CF some.

Pretty sure Ohtani was notified Aaron Boone was the new Yankees manager and the Yankees media blamed it on him wanting to be in a smaller market.

I highly doubt that. The Yankees could have had someone like Maddon or Bochy and he was still never going to an East coast team. Even though CAA was apparently trying to force him to take meetings with the Yankees and Mets.

That's why it's probably only down to the Mariners, Dodgers, Giants and Padres. With everyone else just being there for some negotiating strength.

It's weird that the Marlins want Alcantara, Wacha and Jose Martinez from the Cardinals but would take Panik/Beede/Shaw from the Giants. Either two of those Cards players are an either/or situation or the Giants are giving up more.

Whatever the Cubs sent Ohtani had a list of young players that are under control for a while and of that list two names not on it were Schwarber and Happ. Then again, no outfielders were at all.

Ohtani should be making his decision soon. He needs to hurry up. FA doesn't seem like it's going to start until he does

He's don't with meetings and it doesn't look like he's having anymore. So it should be soon.

I think Stanton is the one holding things up though. Since there's more money/players involved and he effects more big money moves.

Trade probably makes some sense, but not as a one-for-one. The Yankees would probably have to throw something else in, probably nothing major, no matter how bad of a year Schwarber is coming off of.

Schwarber strikes out a ton and may need to sit against some of the tougher lefties, but he was damn good the second half of last year. Which makes sense, since he came back too early from his knee injury.

You mitigate a lot of why Schwarber sucks if he spends his life at DH

I haven't read any of those rumors over here and I doubt the Cubs would sell low on the guy. His ABs were starting to look very good at the end of the year.

The Yankees have pitching depth, though. It wouldn't be a horrible trade.

Theo insists Schwarber is not being traded but someone has to go. Id rather have Happ personally if I have to choose. Similar offense but he can actually play defense and at multiple positions

If the staff thinks they can fix Betances' hitch/motion, I'd put Schwarber on a plane and tell him we'll be shipping his stuff in the morning.

One (or more) of

-Javier Baez
-Addison Russell
-Ian Happ
-Kyle Schwarber
-Albert Almora Jr
-Jason Heyward (lol)

will have to go to acquire pitching.

Side note: any of you guys sub to The Athletic?

Stanton really killed this offseason. Since he freezes up all the other power bats. And then money is frozen which keeps the pitchers unsigned.

Fangraphs projected him at 3/30, so that's kinda gross. This won't do anything to what Arrieta or Darvish get, but Cobb and Lynn have to be asking for more.

Looking over his splits he hasn't been awful away from Coors. Career 3.31 road era compared to 5.25 at Coors and a .69 ERA at Wrigley. I guess he'll be fine for a 4 or 5
