Don't feel bad, they only recently opened up there. It was only within the last few years that any locations opened up outside the greater Memphis area. It's the best.

What's everyone's preferred hot chicken spot? I try a few every time I go to Nashville but always end up back at Hattie B's. Definitely my favorite.

I went to Byrd and Barrel in STL and it was whack. Ran out of pieces, has "gourmet chicken fast" on the window but still took 40 minutes to get good, and it wasn't even good. Just shitty way too big glorified chicken nuggets. Place wasn't even busy and everyone working there looked like a dickhead.

2 stand outs for me in portland,

Figgy's on congress st. it's kind of hidden behind a coffee shop, but they do nothing but skillet fried chicken and southern sides.

Down on thompson's point near the train station you've got Big J's right next to the Bissel Bros brewery. it's like a fancy KFC, but they have waffle fries and do a version of Hot Chicken. sides are also on point.

fried chicken travel update:

got to go to Willie Mae's Scotch House in New Orleans this weekend. Definitely a top 3 fried chicken I've ever had. there was like a brined layer of hot sauce or cayanne or something underneath the skin that I have never experienced before.
