Official Tony Hawk at Gilman Dissection Thread

General discussion, shows, and everything else.

Postby ghostdancedelux » Tue Mar 13, 2018 11:36 am

As many of you have heard, Legendary Professional Skateboarding Video Game Character Tony Hawk was in attendance of seminal early 2000's hardcore punk band American Nightmare's show at 924 Gilman St in Berkeley Sunday Night.

Here are a few observations:

- Hawk was standing on the right hand side of the stage during American Nightmare, he lasted about 30 second into the first song before pulling out his phone and texting. He filmed approximately 20 minutes of their set, making sure to post a video of somebody stage diving on his Instagram story.

-Tony did not bob his head, or move any part of his body to the rhythm at any point while live music was being played, one could say the birdman "perched" on stage.

- Being as the show was at Gilman, Tony was required to purchase a membership card for the club. (Assuming he signed the card) he is now a member and has been given the opportunity to be involved in the club as a volunteer.

-When attempting to leave the venue immediately after the set, countless patrons "flocked" to the birdman in hopes of snagging a picture with the legend, preventing him from being able to exit in a timely manor.

Any other thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Looks like he went live on IG for a period of time in order to gain "cred" with his followers as well.

I heard the Birdman on his radio show last year and it sounded like it's not so hot being Tony Hawk these days. Nobody wants his games, nobody buys his clothes from Kohls, he's old, his SiriusXM channel got turned into a classic numetal channel, and in general, nobody cares enough about Tony Hawk for him to feel comfortable about how he's gonna provide for his family. Bummer deal.

Can't confirm nor deny Riley being in the pit. But what we do know is the birdman's offspring stands about 5'7", has a kurt cobain-esq aesthetic, and could've easily moshed unnoticed.

I've never been to Gilman's Street, any good? I know a lot of cool bands have played that place over the years, still the same kind of sound?

I haven't heard about Tony Hawk doing anything for a long time.

In my opinion Gilman used to be unbelievable, and had great tours coming through constantly. It's been on a pretty steep decline for the past several years though.

When (I think) that Naoma person was doing a lot of booking, that was my favorite time period. Some unbelievable locals only shows and tours.
