2018 Shoveling Thread

General discussion, shows, and everything else.

Postby Party Foul » Thu Jan 04, 2018 4:32 pm

Just hard-bodied my 30x20 suburban driveway, front walkway and backyard dog path. I finished before the soft-bodies got out with their snow blowers to clog up the blizzard air with shitty pull start fumes.

#6 is the way to go. #2 is also a solid approach for the deep shit, however it doesn't cover as much area at one time as the others. #5 your ass oughta just call a plow guy.

Damn, can't hang in this thread. Waited it out until it was all over before pulling out the snow blower. Cleared 16" of drifted snow off the driveway, including a 28" packed plow wall at the end. Was back indoors drinking in an hour and a half.

The drive home from work was awful. When I got home, the plow guy didn’t do anything and I had to shovel up a hill. My truck got stuck for almost two hours and I swore a lot. I probably have like no tread on my tires. I’m about to call in.

I've been shoveling my front walk and stairs since the end of November at once or 2 a week, lately it's been 3/4 times a week

Shoveled all day yesterday, sat for a few hours, then shoveled commercial properties overnight until the sun came up this morning. My body hurts and my eyes burn from the salt. Good money though.

I have a corner lot and shoveling it stinks.
Shoveled yesterday in anticipation of the bitter cold today (and so I wouldn't get fined) and the wind has made it appear as if I haven't touched it. :smt011

I pulled out my rattle trap 29" craftsman 9HP with a leaky carb and blew through 30" drifts and a 3' hard-pack plow wall and was on my couch in a little over an hour.

I prefer a 1 or a 3. Its light and I can maneuver well with it. However, I was stuck with a 2 last night. Luckily I had Hop Con in my ears to focus in on the task at hand and lead me to glory.

In Albany NY it sure is!

I was in southern Saskatchewan for work last week and had to dig my car out with the same thing. then I remembered my hotel had a nice looking shovel sitting inside the main entrance so I grabbed that and started shoveling.

We got about 10" yesterday, and it turned out to be a pretty easy dig-out.

Neighbor came over to help, and drink some beers, which is extra helpful.
