Nobby's. It's a borderline chore trying to navigate one of these bad boys without dousing yourself in a pint of grease, but it's worth it. Definitely a once every 3-4 months food item. If I ate one of these every time I had a craving I would be 600 pounds and couch-bound.

Can't find a picture, but this local pizza place does a pizza with:
French fries
mozzarella sticks
chicken
and bacon

it is the best pizza. One slice and you feel like you ate a meal. $25 or some shit for a large one. We used to split one when we'd skate with 6-7 dudes.

One of my favorite spots by my place puts a fresh made tortilla under their carne asada fries, so you can wrap it into a burrito if you please.

just had a place open this week that does Lobster Tacos. Shells are made out of griddled cheese and bacon. have to try.

http://highrollerlobster.com/

Also have the Holy Donut. all the donuts are made with potato flour. super good stuff.

Calgary doesn't really have much of a regional food identity (outside of great steak), but if you like gigantic chili dogs with a variety of fixings you'll want to check out Tubby Dog and the various hot dog toppings. (the bottom pic is seriously one order of onion rings)

also, saskatoon berries are a big deal here. taste like a cross between a cranberry and blueberry. my personal favorite place to get saskatoon berry pie is in Prince Albert, SK

Image

oh, and Taber corn is only available for a month here. it comes from Taber, AB and people swear by the stuff. it's the sweetest and juciest corn supposedly and sold at roadside stands toward end of summer.

I once ate a chili dog there with a knife and fork because I was dressed up for a night out, and every single person looked at me like a heathen, and then I crumbled to the pressure and used my hands. Got chili on my nice shirt and crotch and was really bummed.

Slab Pizzeria - each slice is a pound. they also have some of the best sandwiches i've ever had.
Image

THere is also nosh which is apparently run by culinary mad scientists

this is the Burnt Trailer Queen - A patty with blueberry cream cheese, blackforest ham and two donuts topped with caramel and bacon dust as the buns.
Spoiler: show
Image

Mac & stack - consists of two fried mac-and-cheese patties as buns, American cheese, smoked BBQ sauce, smoked bacon and a grass-fed, all-natural Nosh beef patty
Spoiler: show

they also serve bacon dusted fries and several sandwiches. I had a schnitzel sandwich from there a couple of weeks ago that came on Kings Hawaiian rolls, with apples, arugula, lemon and house made ricotta that was out of this world.
