What the fuck is there to do in Myrtle Beach

General discussion, shows, and everything else.

My grandma wants to go so I think some of us are going in the spring. Other than drinking and staring at the ocean, what is there to do?

I notice a lot of people buy sweaters and t shirts from the Myrtle Beach t shirt and sweater store.

Oh man, my mom just moved there and I visited over the summer. I've been to Myrtle Beach probably 20-30 times, and it's way more fun when you're 14-15 (or if you're a garbage person). I fucking hate that town. My dog is terrified of fireworks and thunderstorms, and literally every night people set off giant fireworks on the beach (because in SC they sell industrial size fireworks to anyone with zero restrictions on when you can use them). As far as things to do, there's lots of mini golf, go cart, arcade type places, lots of golf courses, etc. If you don't mind sneaking around, there are a lot of hotels that have really great pools, so sneaking into those places is always nice. A lot of people like Broadway at the Beach and the Boardwalk, but I'm not a huge fan of either. But I think one of those places has a pretty cool adult arcade, or they did 10-15 years ago. Don't expect to see any attractive people. I went during the summer for over a week (granted it rained most of the time I was there) and I can remember seeing one woman (aside from my girlfriend) who I'd even remotely consider sleeping with, everyone else was ugly and/or trashy as fuck. There was such an absence of good looking people that me and my girlfriend made a game out of it while at the beach for a few hours just trying to find someone we'd consider sleeping with (given we were single). Like I said, there was one good looking woman who we both agreed was hot, and my girlfriend found zero dudes she was attracted to, and she's normally into weird looking dudes. There were hundreds if not thousands of people there.

That said, there is so much great seafood, especially fried seafood. Oh, and definitely go to BoJangles. It's a southern chain known for fried chicken and biscuits. It's the best fast food. Make sure you try the cheddar bo' biscuit. It doesn't sound like much, but it's pretty much the consensus best thing on the menu. The Cajun filet chicken biscuit is also great if you eat chicken, and so is their fried chicken. I haven't had their chicken in like 7-8 years because I don't eat chicken anymore, but whenever I go to a BoJangles, it's the only time I'm ever really tempted to have it. I really can't explain it. I never crave real chicken, except when I go there and it's always a struggle to not get it.

When a request for recommendations generates a paragraph long response about a fast food place you know you're in for a good time.

But dude, it's so good. Honestly, it's kind of worth the trip alone.

EDIT: I take that back, it's not worth it. Myrtle Beach is a horrible place. You can get BoJangles throughout the Carolinas, go to anywhere else in NC/SC instead. Asheville is pretty cool.

I go to myrtle beach every summer, well north myrtle, we stay at Lands End Resort, which is pretty secluded since its between a nature preserve and a campground (RV Park). I don't do much but drink & chill the entire time but there's a pier a mile down from there with a decent bar spot and you can fish from there. A couple sweet food places I recommend Villa Romana, New York Prime, Greg Normans and Umberto's. Other than that it's a bunch of hokey stuff to me

Swapmeet a few miles off the strip is awesome if you like knives/weapons and awesome tee shirts. Stayed at some dump motel on tour once but snuck into some hotel with a lagoon that floats you around the building. Def go to south of the border and the jr tobacco outlet and also that drive thru strip club if it still exists

What an awful place. My Dads family lived there for a long time (well North Myrtle Beach.) They used to have frozen lemonade carts walking alongside the beach, those were tight.

And Bojangles is absolutely not spelled wth a capital J, cut that shit out. Do eat there though.

This is true, but I always do it. I don't even know why, I know it's wrong. Maybe because on the signs the J is bigger than the other letters.

turts & squirts BAYBAYYYYYY

I may have told this one before but anyway..I stayed in a shithole motel near myrtle years ago with some buddies. We walked in and I immediately noticed something on the bed sheet, so I pulled the covers back to investigate and the sheet was almost completely covered in what appeared to be bloodstains. Like someone had been stabbed, laid there and bled out, and someone removed the body and just casually pulled a blanket over the mess.

For some reason we decide to stay (the other bed was acceptable and the rest of us decided to crash on the floor) and my buddies decide go to the store while I stayed behind. I look out the window and notice some very sketchy dudes wandering around in outside our room. Then all of a sudden this Debo lookin dude walks up and stares in the window, like presses his face up to the glass. We briefly lock eyes and I jumped up, closed the curtains, and barricaded the door with anything I could find until my buddies came back. Fun night.

The only other thing I remember is going to my friend's grandpa's house who lived nearby. Dude talked like a real life Foghorn Leghorn and called us all the n-word repeatedly (all of us are white).
