New Glassjaw record comes out friday.

General discussion, shows, and everything else.

Who's hyped? The two songs out so far are pretty awesome, so while I wasn't a big fan of the last EP, I'm pretty hyped for this joint. Only took 15 years.

I have been waiting for this album since 7th grade.

I thought the EP was pretty solid, so I have high expectations.

I'm so stoked. Coloring book is perfect, and what I've heard so far seems to be in a similar direction, only heavier. Can't wait.

I love Coloring Book. I saw them when it came out, they played it all the way through as an encore. A lot of people left.

Has Glassjaw played Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Silence songs at all live lately? I messed up hard by never seeing them. I was so into that album for years after it came out in jr high and high school.

They've been playing a couple songs off it on this tour.

not so much, i think they really regret the lyrical content of that record and have preferred to move on.

used to be one of my favorite bands but I'm not into coloring book and the turn they've taken since then. worship and tribute was a watershed for bands of that sort and it still holds up in my opinion.

EYEWTKAS was my number one album as a teenager and most of it still holds up today but they're unlistenable live, he literally sounds like Daffy duck when he's trying to pull off the vocals and he's also nearly 40 so the lyrics just don't seem right coming out of him anymore. Love the fact they're still adapting and moving forward.

This record is fucking incredible so far. I'm pretty blown away honestly. I've loved Glassjaw for a long time but didn't start regularly listening to them again until I saw them at Wrecking Ball a few years back and got back into it heavy. I didn't enjoy Coloring Book at all, so this return to form is something I'm pretty stoked on. I'm about halfway through it but unless it dips in quality on some extreme level in the second half, this might end up being one of my favorite records of this year. Really hoping there is legit vinyl soon.

To the dude who asked about EYEWTKAS songs live, when I saw them at Wrecking Ball they played Pretty Lush and Siberian Kiss, and I'm pretty sure those are the only songs they ever play from it now.

I want it to do something for me, but I just can't get into it. I wasn't a fan of Coloring Book at all. I guess I dig that Shira sorta sounds like a mashup of Cosmopolitan Blood Loss and Pretty Lush, but something isn't clicking with me yet. Gonna listen a bunch more times.

I don't know why they didn't just put together Our Color Green and Coloring Book as one album. It all sounds like it was recorded in the same time period, and I think it can be sequenced in a way that flows seamlessly.

Anywho that's nitpicking, I'm really excited for this, and have intentionally avoided hearing any live vids or singles since the first one...two years ago lol. Hope they do a headlining run, cuz no way in hell was I gonna fork over $35 to see them open for the friggin Used

That's the thing, it's all pretty dope sounding overall but nothing really sticks out. I feel like if you listen to old Glassjaw there were lots of different guitar parts/drum parts where as this is just kinda vocal forward, which is cool cuz he's a great vocalist, but it's just a bit forgettable.

I would say the first half of the record is stronger than the first, but I love the whole thing. I agree that it does not have the immediate catchiness of Worship And Tribute, but trust me, these songs are gonna get stuck in your head eventually, they sure as fuck are stuck in mine lol.

Yeah, for sure. I first listened to it on headphones and there is a lot of shit popping off. The drumming is insane (dude from Dillinger Escape Plan played on it) and I'm really interested on who played bass on the record too, cause it's massive. Wild that they released pretty much their heaviest record to date. Didn't expect that at all.

I think Beck tracked all of the bass. He's playing bass in all the teasers. It really is the star of this record. So many sick bass lines and a massive tone. Also bass slides everywhere.

Yeah I was just reading some interview with Beck where he says he did all the bass. He did on W&T as well if I remember correctly.
