I've had a Chrome Ivan rolltop bag since 2011. I take it hiking, farmers markets, everywhere. It's a little on the bigger size for some everyday stuff, but it's one of the most useful things I've ever bought. Can easily carry two 12 pack of bottles and the inside is waterproof so you can throw ice in there if you feel like it.

For small things I'll use my basic Jansport that I've had since high school, but if I'm going on a trip I'll use my Patagonia bag

That Chrome Ivan looks so solid, but I can't find it anywhere. Did they discontinue it?

And macho, I really like that Fjall, but I'm curious as to how well it wears/how comfortable the straps are for all day city travel or short hikes? The rucksack look is clean, but I'm willing to compromise if it means my back won't feel worse than it already does.

Yeah, I'm iffy af on GORUCK. I know they're apparently a good organization, but if I'm going that route, I'll just buy a Malice pack from TacTailor.

Check out Mission Workshop. Love my Vandal, when it expands it's huge. The Rambler is more practical for day to day probably.

I think they might have, but I've seen them pop up on eBay here and there and they usually go for a little under $100, which is a total steal.

Here's a review: http://www.carryology.com/reviews-2/roa ... p-part-12/

They're nice because you can beat the piss out of them and they'll always look new, but the overtly tactical/dorky look of them kinda blows for daily use and they're sorta heavy for what they are.

i don't bring suitcases with me when i travel for leisure anymore so that's why i bought this since it doubles as a stuff sack for my denim and tshits. i've traveled to Europe and within the US several times with it and i feel it's comfortable enough. the way the pack sits on the straps will be a little higher up on your back vs a typical Jansport, but the materials are durable. it's made of their rip proof canvas material and the leather is really nice. it's just a nicer looking backpack that also allows you stuff it full, pull down a drawstring to secure and then flip over the top part and cinch it down with the leather straps. the side pockets are kinda useless and not very roomy, but having an included seat pad and pocket to stash your wallet/keys during a flight or while on the road is nice. Fjall also sells this wax that you can pretty much melt and iron into the canvas material to make it waterproof.

if you can find any Fjallraven product on sale, i say go for it. otherwise, i have a really hard time justifying 250 USD for this backpack when there are plenty of other great products for less.

i have a rolltop from topo designs. its a perfect size. unfortunalty it seems they discontinued it but their other backpacks are nice.
the mountain rolltop looks most similar to the one i have.

made in US. and their smaller accesory bags are great to keep your shit organized while traveling.

I've had my mission workshop bag for 7+ years using it pretty much every day, the main zipper finally wore out, sent it back to them, they gave me a gift card for a brand new one. Such a good investment. Can't recommend them enough.
