Donkey Kong Country: Best videogame soundtrack of all time?

General discussion, shows, and everything else.

Postby max m. » Wed Jan 11, 2017 11:20 am

Let's forget about any games using licensed music. I would argue that this is the best soundtrack of any game I've ever played.

How about some appreciation for the soundtrack Green Jelly did for Maximum Carnage. Those midi guitars perfectly encapsulated the despair of getting your ass handed to you by weirdly named street thugs with the knowledge that you had a pitiful amount of Continues banked.

I prefer DK2 to the og. but they are both really good. donkey 3 was ok. but I think the reason I like the soundtrack in 2 the most is because I played it the most and itw as my favorite with all the different levels and ares (like the haunted one half way through the game).

I still have all 3 games, might get into them this weekend

Fuck yes, dude.

idk if anyone here is a Blank Banshee fan, but he uses the melody from that level in this awesome track.

Spoiler: show

DK Country really does have some of the best music from a video game. It's up there with the N64 Zelda games.

Other favorites:

Perfect Dark
Spoiler: show

Sonic Adventure

Sonic 2 (fucking classic)

Ocarina of Time

it's so catchy though, it sounds like something that would be in the end credits of a Disney live action movie like Holes

I like your choices Orbiter.

The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers game for SNES has a bangin soundtrack that's pretty underrated.

Street Fighter as well. Even if I weren't a SF fan in general, they could replace the national anthem with Guile's theme and I'd be about it.
