Not enough talk about the new Paradise Lost record!

I just jammed this the other day, it's pretty fucking great.

Converge are probably one of if not my favorite heavy band in general, and The Dusk In Us is making it's way into my top 3 releases for them ever. What a fantastic fucking record, every song is great. I wasn't huge on Reptillian or I Can Tell You About Pain when they were released as singles, but they work much better in the context of the entire album.

I totally agree, I feel like every song is very different yet they all share a similar sonic palate if that makes sense, probably not.

Yeah for sure. It's definitely a Converge record but every song has it's own dynamic and flavor. Also that very short breakdown at the end of Broken By Light straight up sounds like something off Petitioning The Empty Sky and makes me wanna smash things. :smt035

The end of Eye of the Quarrel sounds like a Disfear song and I dig it so hard. Such a good record.

The new Godflesh has also been insane. New Quicksand is much better than I thought it'd be. Don't know if anyone is too into him here but Peter Broderick just released a b sides sort of collection that's pretty great. Eluvium's new album Shuffle Drones is meant to be played in a random order every time you listen to it. Cool shit. Good year for music.

Just listened to the new Gleemer record "Anymore", I checked them out because they are on tour with Spotlights, pretty solid modern shoegaze, nothing making my top 30 or anything, but a solid listen.

Man, that Big Thief record is a serious downward spiral, eh?

Incredible album, just sad as fuck. Anybody into Carissa's Wierd, early Cat Power even, would probably dig it.

This is my fave split in a while. Both projects rule, great lyrics too. Making Out With Strangers sounds a LOT like Lost Sounds. I think today is the day i give in and buy the tracks from both bandcamps (the Dominator being a bit pricey, but fuck it). I would love to hear more stuff like this, if it exists.

I didn't find Dominator's bandcamp until just now (and didn't realize that they had more songs than just the two on the split), bought the tape instantly.

edit: since links make everything better in this thread- Dominator Bandcamp, MOWS Bandcamp

I bought from both bandcamps. I gotta say that the recording on the split kills both other sessions. So much more punchy and urgent. The re-recorded versions of those 4 tracks don't live up to the split. Still worth the purchase.

Ever check out Idle hands? Total Mission of Burma worship. They have an LP and an EP that i play constantly. There's a bandcamp. Pretty sure it's on Deranged.

I thought that I listened to one of their releases on Deranged's bandcamp a while ago, but now I'm thinking that it was a different band. I'm listening to that Postponed album now, I'll give the EPs a shot too.

This new Glassjaw album is fucking outstanding. Surprise of the year. Not that I don't love Glassjaw, just that I didn't expect them to release an album that was this heavy/this much of a return to form after Coloring Book.
