best fried chicken in Georgia is 5 minutes from my house, H&H Soul Food. They closed down years ago and a local restaurant group helped the elderly lady open back up and started a Sunday brunch with this included:
Open faced biscuit with fried chicken, collards, egg, sawmill gravy (red eye gravy comes with it too, but I'm not a fan)
Image

Went last weekend and just got a chicken biscuit with honey, but another one of their top sellers is a chicken biscuit with pimento cheese and bacon jam.

Sawmill gravy is what it typically used with biscuits and gravy. It's a creamy because it's made with flour and drippings (usually sausage).

Red eye gravy is made from drippings (usually ham or bacon) and is mixed with black coffee.

Please share details.

Dude from Nosh owns it. it's down on thompson's point attached to the new Bissell spot. apparently there's a reach through window set up in the brewery for easy chicken access.

stoner witch already showed ya'll the roost, honestly best buttermilk biscuits i've ever had in my life. 2nd best chicken biscuits in chi-town is leghorn:

Image

I have heard good things about honey butter fried chicken, but its far from where i live and i am lazy af so i still havent tried it.

if you like chicken and waffles, see if there is a hash house a gogo near you, they have more than just the one in chicago. 2 chicken breasts and 4 bacon waffles, so fucking good:

Image

want korean fried chicken? go to Crisp. delicious. I prefer the seoul sassy but the bbq is also good.

Image

theres a lot of good places for fried wings. Birds Nest is probably one of the best, they have won many awards:

Image

The Other Side bar also has good wings:

Image

Mickys, aka prison chicken, very good.

Image

theres probs more but those are the ones I know about in chicago.

if you are looking to make your own you should use thighs, because its way better than the breasts. also soak those bad boys in buttermilk for a bit before you get into the breading times. i found this recipe, pretty much how you should do it, do your own spice thing tho, I don't agree with this man's lack of spice: http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/double-dipped-buttermilk-fried-chicken-358138

I tried Howlin' Rays back when it was a truck and it was pretty good, but no way would I wait hours in line for it. If you haven't tried it, or if you just want good hot chicken and no wait, go to Crawford's on Rampart and Beverly. It's cheaper, there's no wait, and there are $3 high life drafts.

I suggest you give red-eye gravy a chance. Cook up some good smokehouse ham in a cast-iron skillet. When its rendered down pour in 1/4 to a half of coffee from your mug then add a generous amount of turbinado sugar. very savory and good with grits & fried eggs. Probably wouldn't with fried chicken.
Publix has suprisingly good fried chicken in their deli. It holds up good when cold too, a staple when I go fishing in the Everglades
