There is going to be nothing better television wise this year. I'm only half way through, but this is sheer perfection. It perfectly brings back the essence and nostalgia of 80s sci-fi and horror while doing something new and not just beating you over the head with "HEY, REMEMBER THIS?"

100% captures the vibe of John Carpenter and 80s Speilberg. Can't wait to finish this tonight.

Love those spooky synth sounds so much. So evocative of Carpenter.

i watched a bit, im a nerd so i loved the d&d stuff. it feels really stephen kingish in a way. i love stories about young kids and friendship (not in a creepy way duh but i mean like the innocent loyalty between a bunch of misfit kids ya dig) i think the best part about IT wasn't even the scary stuff it was the relationships between the friends. but anywayz. excited to see how it plays out

one of the things that was said actually made me tear up

Spoiler: show
something like:

"we have to help him!"

... "but were not supposed to go out!"

"he cast a fireball"

... "what do you mean?"

"he could have used a protection spell to save himself against the demigorgon but he put himself in danger to help the rest of the party."

... "..............................I'll be there in five minutes."

gave me chills and made me go YEAHHHHHHHHH DUDES!

I already have a huge hankering to watch The Thing because of this show. Probably gonna go on a massive 80s sci-fi/horror binge in the next few days.

Hopper is the man!

A lot of shows will just throw nostalgic shit at you, but it genuinely feels like I'm watching something from the 80s. Hell, even the hairstyles are just as shitty. I'm making my way through the finale and I'm so surprised at how great this has been! I'll be rewatching again for sure. Really hoping it's not an anthology series if they go through with a second season. Love these characters.

Winona had me in teaaarss dude. She had her heart on her sleeve this entire show. And I was right there with her. The kids were just so damn likeable. Dustin is the real homie. We should all be more like Dustin.

My mom also used to do a witch voice to try and scare me as a kid. And the Crypt Keppers laugh. She used to sneak me out of bed in the summer time so we could watch Tales from the Crypt together and she knew his laugh scared the shit out me. So shed do it all the time. Eventually I started asking her to do it..all the time.

Only two episodes in but I feel the same way. When she goes to her boss about that advance and breaks down, I was blown away. I hope she gets a comeback after this because she really deserves it.
Everything about this has been so good. The chilling intro and score, great kid actors that are believable (haven't seen that since Super 8 ) and a solid adult cast too. Completely nails everything I loved about all the 80s coming of age movies I grew up on
Edit-Mike's dad in the first episode was cracking me up "What'd I dooooooooooo?"

Binge watched this Saturday night, didn't even realize we were on the last episode until things started to actually come together, at 4:30 in the morning.

I never liked sci-fi or any of that stuff, but this show is absolute perfection. So stoked for the second season being confirmed, and more so about it being a "sequel" rather than a new season.

I wish more series would have shorter seasons. I'd rather have something completely suck me in for a shorter span of time instead of going full steam ahead and then suddenly plod along for 4 episodes. 8-10 episodes is the perfect amount for a season.
