Depending on what they're giving up, Dee Gordon is a nice pick up for the Mariners.

He's going to play center? Weird, but I like it.

Ooooh it's for Gordon to play center. Wonder if that closes the door on Ohtani.

Well they got another $1M international slot money in this deal. They might actually be the favorites for Ohtani. At least they are definitely still in.

I was hoping the Jays would be in on Gordon long ago since they have a glass middle infield.

This is the year Devon Travis plays more than 45 games, I can feel it

I will be astonished if he gets 100 games in. I will be happy with half a season, around 80.

Segura is a good hitter, but Dee will be what they wanted Segura to be this year.

Gordan
Segura
Cano
Cruz
Seager
Haniger
Gamel
Alonso
Zunino

That top six is pretty solid. But I thought the same thing about their top five this season and, while good, they seemed a lot more promising on paper. If Seager can repeat 2016 and everyone else has their average offensive year then....they might win 85 games?

Is he regarded as good defensively at all?

All I really know about him is I was fuckin furious the Red Sox gave up seemingly all the homers he hit last season

His defense is the only reason they keep him around. He was top a top 20 defensive player this season per fan graphs (min. 400 PA).

Mike Zunino has the same swing as a guy from Ken Griffey Jr Baseball for SNES and that's all he can do. His approach is horrific but he guesses his way into a double sometimes. But yeah defensively he's great.

I don't see him sustaining whatever approach he had that led to his "success" towards the end of 2017. To me it's much more of a bummer that Seager can't put together a top end offensive season. He got close in 2016 but actually regressed this year in relation to his average output. At this point he's pretty much proven otherwise but I gotta believe bitch has a .380+ OBP season in him somewhere.

I think I'm in the minority but I've just never had visions of Seager being an elite hitter. He's solid, sorta streaky, but a great player and worth every penny of his contract just not the star player M's fans seem to want him or believe him to be.

Can't blame a guy for wanting to play with god himself in CF. He was told he could play every single day if he wanted to and if he actually does, how long do you guys think he'll go until he falls apart?

If he's just a dh most of the time it's probably not going to be an issue. I'd be worried about playing him in the field 6 days a week.
