He was a great character- comedy relief and seemingly liked smacking people around haha.

I loved the whole scene after he was shot by Jackie Junior and his goons, during the card game robbery.

He started saying a bunch of expletives in Italian, and he asked Tony ''Is this prick even a doctor?'' and the doctor says ''Close! I'm a prick doctor!'' and Tony went ''Maybe while he's down there, he can give you a bulge!''. They were really busting Furio's balls for how badly he was taking the pain from the gunshot. Tony even made some joke about seeing if they could change this lady's panties or something.

Sucks we never got to hear what happened to Furio. We just saw him leave Jersey and presumably go back to Italy. Tony claimed to Carmela that he had someone looking for him over in Italy, to hunt him down and whack him, after Carmela told Tony that she was dreaming about him and excited every night, looking forward to him coming to pick up Tony every morning. After she dumps Tony. :smt005

Didn't he slip on the ice, while on his crutches, in one of the episode's after that? Which also was hilarious.

He should have gave up his cousin and vito. Even though he didnt know where vito was, fuck it. He should have just gave new york what they wanted. I mean they did have over 200 soldiers in there family. I definitely think tony would have gotten wacked eventually. They definitely could have still done business with the left overs. Paulie was still around.
I think Paulie would have made a great boss. What do you think?

Paulie does make himself boss

I'm almost on board with this, but don't the new york families refer to Paulie as small potatoes? Maybe they were just lying. I know you're the man when it comes to this show so I'm genuinely asking.

Plus, Paulie already felt betrayed by Johnny cuz Carmine had no fucking clue who he even was. He's just an enforcer. Plus he took the Aprile capo out of friendship to tony. He fucking loved tony. He had his portrait on his wall.

I just am not sold he put a hit out.

I double checked.

In the meeting where Butchy issues the order to go to war, they call out the top 3 guys to take out. Tony, Bobby, and Sil. Someone asks about Paulie and they say “no, management”.

Listen, taking out Tony is the only option. Paulie watched Tony collaborate with the FBI against New York. He knew Carlo had flipped. He was about to watch another clown (Patsy Parisi) get promoted (cause of Meadow’s engagement to Patrick). Keep in mind that Patsy was in line to be killed when Tony rolled all of Junior’s lieutenants at the end of S1.

So you have this situation with Tony:
- a boss who collaborated with the FBI against a New York family
- a boss who has a severe nepotism problem
- a boss who has a very documented and ugly history with New York
- a boss who is about to be indicted (he’d be a liability period, but with his documenrd working relationship with the FBI, this is grounds for a death sentence)

Yea, recently I rewatched the ep where Paulie and Christopher are in the van sucking down ketchup, def a reality check for me. Like Chris and Paulie, their dynamic I love, love watching them together, and even these two are thinking about offing each other. But you know, Chris is a fast runner, you know this.

Close friendship combined and family ties with shared trauma bonding isn’t enough to keep each other true for this side of humanity.

I think there was a mistake in pine barrens. When Chris and Paulie are about to enter the van, they both enter from the passenger side. Chris goes first then Paulie. But Paulie ends up on the driver seat and Chris is the passenger

that's off the top of my head but yes, tony was a spectacularly bad boss.

Agree with some points, disagree with others.

Ralph was a loose cannon and causing a lot of other problems. Murdered the young girl who was carrying his BAYBAYYYYYY, just for insulting him in front of his friends. The beef with Johnny Sack over the Ginny Sack jokes, etc. He was a huge problem and pain in Tony's ass on the non-business side of things. I understand the murder of the young woman, was not a punishable by death offense to these guys, as she was just a civilian, but still pretty low of him to do.

I think killing Christopher was far past due and the right move. His drug usage/addiction also made him vulnerable to being popped, especially with all the post-Adrianna fallout. His was an excellent candidate for getting pinched and flipping, if I'm looking at it from Tony's perspective. I even think Christopher was close to trying to whack Tony, had Tony not gotten to him first. They were teasing it right before that. Tony also was a bit sour about the Clever movie and that the main character was a depiction of him. I could see Tony being afraid that Christopher would flip if he was caught, and maybe holding Adrianna's whacking against him and using it as another way to bring down Tony.

Making Bobby Jr. underboss, was definitely not a great move, I agree with you completely on this one.

The Tony B. stuff could have started the war a couple seasons earlier, and it eventually was a huge part in Phil going rogue, but Tony did at least kill Tony B. to try and make good on it.

Paulie also opened his mouth too much, I think he would have been a terrible boss. He was the one who started the entire Ginny Sack drama, after his nephew (I think that's what happened?) told him about Ralph's joke while he was visiting him in the can. Even Tony could see that, when they took that trip down to Florida and they heavily teased Tony killing him out on the boat.
