I recently got Dear You (it seems to be the one people rave about), but it isn't as good as people said it would be. I prefer Unfun.

It's a good record, but it's not their best. I highly suggest Bivouac if you haven't gotten there yet.

I can't really pick a favorite record by them. Dear You is probably the one with the most hooks but 24 Hour and Unfun are up there for me too. Jawbreaker ruled any way you look at it

Bivouac is such a great record. It definitely sits oddly in their discography though. If you took it out there would be a very clear, logical progression.

The chorus of Fireman gets me every time, especially when the drums slow down. So simple but so kickass.

The way Condition Oakland leads into Ache is one of the best things my ears have had the pleasure of hearing.

Yeah, the melody on that chorus is also quite tasty.

NBA Live 2005: Ache is a song where EVERY SINGLE TIME that when it comes on, without fail someone immediately runs into my car and starts violently cutting onions. Have you ever noticed that?

This is a tough song to cover. The chorus always gets me, I always go way off-key.

Favourite songs are probably Sluttering, Ashtray Monument, First Step (first song I heard) and Friendly Fire but it'll likely change sometime soon.

Friends Back East and Sister are two banging songs from Etc. That record has some insanely good songs, crazy to think some were throwaway tracks and comp songs, they're among their best.

I definitely think it's the saddest JB song.

I'm also partial to Outpatient, which is weird because deep down I know it's a super simple song about a dumb subject.

One of my alltime favorite bands. Here's my input on some stuff posted here.

Dear You and 24HRT rank highest for me (favorite varies) mainly because I feel the songwriting and structure of the albums are more rounded out on both of those. All other albums/EPs sound more like a bunch of songs thrown together to me.

I think my favorite song would have to be Jinx Removing (the version from that 96 live album). Followed by Jet Black

Fun fact: my claim to tumblr-fame are these pictures:

A few years ago on tour I started writing this on the wall of every venue we played. First pic is my own, second pic somehow got online and started having it's own life. Both ended up on the Jawbreaker Facebook page which is ran by Adam Pfahler and that's pretty rad.

Also I'd like to say that I think I like Jets To Brazil more than Jawbreaker (but could be a sentimental thing) and you should check out both Forgetters release if you haven't already.

I get shit for this, but I kind of guiltily agree. Also Perfecting Loneliness and ORD specifically were records that were there during a really bad year and a half of my life.

Yup spot on. Perfecting Loneliness made me want to kill myself/saved me from killing myself 100 times during a bad time in my life. I can't even listen to that album anymore without being reminded of it.

Anything Blake Schwarzenbach-related is good.

I only recently got into Jets (after not having been able to before, somehow), and goddamn. Though I think ORD is miles more interesting and I can't stand something about the production on Perfecting Loneliness. Maybe it'll grow on me.

And yeah, Bivouac is such an enigma. I feel like it would fit right in with a lot of the late 80s/early 90s Dischord releases, and the title track almost sounds more like a Fugazi song than a Jawbreaker song. 24HRT is definitely my favourite - it's hard to pick a favourite, but it's definitely one off that record.

I found Dear You kind of a different approach lyrically for Blake. I feel like it's less honest and more cheeky, but I can appreciate it for that. Don't get me wrong, I love that record - just songs like "Oyster", "Million", etc. seem much more jokey than anything.
