Android thread v. 3?

General discussion, shows, and everything else.

Postby K To The C » Wed Nov 27, 2013 6:39 pm

Apparently the Android thread got deleted so let's start this over again. My Nexus 5 is 6 days away from being in my hand and the Diztronic case is 7 days from being around my phone. :smt041 Anyone interested in buying a Verizon Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Nexus? Both are rooted and have extended batteries.

I sent my S3 back to Samsung to be repaired. They lost it when sending it back to me. Awesome.

I still don't know what to get next month when my contract is up. Split between the S4 and Note 3.

That stinks. Can the Nexus 5 work on your network? This phone seriously rules. I usually throw on CM or another custom ROM right away but I've just been using rooted stock with francoKernel and it's so smooth.

It does but my network doesn't sell it. And I don't really have the cash right now to buy one sim free. I know i'd save money in the long run, but i don't have a spare £300 right now.

Oh and my S3 came back to me with a letter saying no fault found. I used it for 2 hours before it started resetting itself again.

Please, can somebody tell if there is a hidden setting somewhere, so that I can set albums to show the latest pics first? I hate to open it and then I have to scroll down to the bottom to see the newest picture..

I wish I could get more than 3 hours screen time with my Nexus 4. Even with the most basic of settings (ie brightness down, push notifications etc) I barely get anything out of it.

Surely something is wrong with the device? 3 hours is awful.

I have an HTC one but it's having some sim card issues. My 4g is terrible... it keeps saying my sim card isn't recognized. Very aggravating. I might get the Nexus 5 and trade this in.

Is the Nexus 5 better than the HTC One?

I just got TouchWiz back running on my S3. I really hated the way that CyanogenMod worked, and couldn't get used to it. I'm running an iPhone right now (because I hated CM) but I'm thinking about making the switch back because my S3 is still mint.

TouchWiz stinks. In fact any overlay from a manufacturer stinks. Is there any ROM available for your phone that is pure Android or close to it? I hadn't veered too far away from CM or PA ROMS with my past phones but now I'm running rooted stock on my Nexus 5 and it's great. Granted it doesn't have as many features as all the custom ROMs but it just works like it should and I just don't have the time to deal with troubleshooting ROMs anymore.

So I got myself a tronsmart mk908II android pc.

I used to be able to get the USA Netflix on my laptop using a proxy add on for chrome.

Any idea how to make that happen on a (rooted) android pc running 4.2.2? I'm a noob when it comes to stuff like this.

Basically I just need my mk908II to think I'm located in the USA instead of Europe.

Getting pretty tired of my One X. I don't know if it's the phone itself or the Google Play services bug, but the battery life randomly nosedives like twice a week. I had really poor service for about two hours earlier and streamed like three songs over Play Music, but got back to the office with at least 50% battery left. It didn't even last my 9-5 shift (which I'm still at). I'd like to install CM or something, but I've read that it makes battery life on this phone marginally worse. I guess there's a lot of extra bullshit to go through to root / hboot / s-off whatever the fuck you do to an HTC phone as well. I wish I could just drop $300 on a Nexus 5 but fuck if I'm going pay that much just because my current situation is less than desirable. My buddy has a Nexus 4 with a broken screen that I may try and repair but I've also read that the screen and digitizer are expensive and a pain in the ass to replace. I just wanted to fucking complain, sorry dudes.

I don't know whether KitKat is super battery friendly or it's francoKernel but I can't kill the Nexus 5. I regularly get 5 hours of screen on time and can make it over 24 hours without charging.

I think i'm going to hang on with my upgrade and see if they announce the S5 in a couple of months. I can just go sim free for now on a 30 day contract and save some money.

They're definitely going to announce it in a few months because the S4 came out last April.

For what I've read so far it's going to be two versions of the S5 just like that new iPhone. A ''high end'' aluminum version with apparently a diamont pattern on the back and a plastic version that is going to be cheaper.

Just got a Nexus 4 last week after my 7 year old flip phone broke. Been stoked so far, not sure what all apps I need or anything but having fun.

Only complaint was adding a second gmail account was way harder than it should have been.

Keeping my N5 completely stock minus the kernel, with Xposed. GravityBox is all you need. Using Francokernel since day one, have tried a couple others but keep coming back.

I use Lux to control my screen brightness because the stock auto brightness is way too bright and I rarely play games on my phone. If I do play a game it's like sudoko or a nonogram so it's a mostly static image.

I've got a 16 Gb nexus 4 with the glass on the back cracked for sale. The screen is fine, not a blemish. Throw a case on it and you'll never see the cracks on the back.

PM an offer if interested.

I've got the one, black edition and I love everything about it. With heavy use it still lasts a 7-11 day and with normal use easy 24 hours. If you don't like HTC sense just use apex launcher or get a play edition phone.

I have one and it's Fucking awesome. I'm using Nova prime on it and it runs beautifully and easily lasts me the whole day with decent use.

I got my mom an S4 for Christmas and now I wish I had gotten her a One. The S4 is cool, but I think the One is better overall.

I made a wireless car charger/dock for my N5. While completely unnecessary, it's cool to just put my phone on this and it chargers/holds my phone. The dock itself mounts to my CD player which is now not useless.
