I don't have a savings but I try to keep at least $1,200 or more in my checking at all times. It freaks me out when it's gotten close to the $1,000 a few times on big purchases.

I'm an idiot, disregard my earlier post. I have a 401k that my company matches what I put in. I was thinking straight savings account.

Like $18 in my personal bank savings account. I get a monthly thing from my IRA telling me how much I have; it's a lot but not nearly enough to retire yet. I don't really pay much attention to my IRA but I should probably meet with the IRA planner or some shit.

Just blew all my savings. Which was only a couple grand.
Have a good amount in 401k, pension and stock though.
I don't really like the idea of having a large sum of money sitting in a bank account. If you're going to have money, let it do some work for you. Grow it.
I also just got a job making a lot more than I currently do. Going to try and save the majority of my income and buy a property as soon as possible.

It's more complicated than that when you're also paying off a metric fuck tonne of student loans

although it is good to have an emergency fund I would not save more than the 10k you have... Start paying those loans off double rate if you can... 7 or 8% compounding interest is a life suck

Little bit over 30.000 euro, but the situation is different here. Pretty much everyone with some common sense is able to save that much until they get a mortgage, so it's not really that crazy. I'm proud though that I was able to save about 12.000 the last year. Yay for living in a house that my gf's parents own.

You realize 30.00 euros translates to $40.25 at the current exchange rate. Most of us could save that much up if we wanted to, but we got some killer black friday deals coming up at gamestop.

That'd be about 40,000. Replace the period with a comma for euro/us difference
