saw D-CLONE last night (fuck it, RAW PUNK thread ver. 2.0!!)

General discussion, shows, and everything else.

Postby Bob Loblaw » Thu Oct 04, 2012 2:37 pm

I saw D-CLONE last night in Gainesville and it was fun as hell. So loud, so tight, so punk!!

The whole show was awesome, lineup was stellar.

Prepare yourself, East Coast!

this is completely inqusitive and not meant to be sarcastic:

Can someone please explain to me the etymology of the genre "Raw Punk"? It seems like a blanket term tossed onto a bunch of different genres to make things easier. But punk is not a style of music, so I'm confused.

One of my favorite 7"s, my dude!

D-Clone 12" has alot of rerecorded older material, but you will hear no complaints from me. I've been rocking it ever since.

Learn. D-beat will never die. There will be more bands, and they will sound exactly the same and rip equally.

huge fan of this demo. It's a shame that Gess' other output was kind of mediocre because this is on the same level as Confuse and GAI in terms of "first-wave" noisepunk (one man's opinion, feel free to disagree). The tracklisting in the video is incomplete too--skip to 12:01 if you want to hear "Give the Noise."

There will be more bands, and they will sound exactly the same and rip equally.

I don't really agree. I think there's a lot to master, and even some room for innovation, when it comes to this kind of stuff. D-Clone do a really shitbird job at being a noisy d-beat band, and that's why I'll be driving an hour or so to see them in a couple days.

New NÖ PÖWER 12" out in December via Sorry State.

Stepdad SS (3/4 on NP) demo is recorded, and will be out on CS soon. Not exactly raw punk, but fuck you it's related.
