I thought he was taller than 5'9 for some reason.

He's 5'9", but his reach is 6'5" which is very caveman-esque.

I think Frankie v Max is still the most logical and exciting fight out there at 145.

Not related to a title shot but any recent word on Yair Rodriguez? Hasn't fought in six months and nothing schedule that I could find.

Agreed. I wanna see how Max deals with the threat of takedowns. If he beats Frankie, I wouldn't mind seeing him go to war with Cub. I believe those two will make each other look great if one doesn't drop early on. Then, if he makes it through that, it will be about time for Chad Mendes to come back I think.

He's been gym shopping. It sounds like he likes TAM. He's probably trying to bone up on his wrestling a bit before jumping back in. He's a young guy so it sounds smart if that is in fact what he's doing.

I was in that stream live. Started watching from the beginning of the prelims when he had about 100 people. By the time the main event started he had over 4,500 and the chat ignorance was off the charts. It was wild. I was shocked that it made it the entire card without being banned.

Trained with someone who has worked a lot with Michael Chandler that said he walks around at 195.

Had that conversation a while back when I was thinking about taking a fight and he assumed I'd be a LW, while I was trying to decide between WW and MW, lol.

I weighed in 140 and was 153 by that night and I'm some random nobody who doesn't know anything. That's always been my barometer for assuming pros are doing at least 10% for the cut and walking higher.

My coach said Conor was walking in the 190's for 145.

I walk around at 170 usually and fight at 145. Usually the day of the fight I step back in at 155

Conor is the weight cutting king. Dude looked like a skeleton on the scale at 145, would make weight with no drama, then probably weighed 160+ for those Aldo/Holloway/Mendes/Poirier/whatever else fights at 45.

Who the fuck knows about the cardio. He barely cut any weight for his 2 fights at 170 with Diaz and his cardio looked suspect at times in both those, especially the first.

How is this possible? I've followed the sport for a long time, but I have no idea, logistically, how pros lose 45 pounds in camp. That's insane. Maybe I'm just lazy.

Carefully planned crash dieting and non-medically approved techniques. I'd seriously question if McGregor could even make 145 again. Cutting that much weight especially for a prolonged period of time fucks your body up.

Tyron? I'm more into the idea of the 145 and 185lb titles somewhat, sorta, vaguely being on the line simultaneously.

IDK, Stipe's chin is granite and he's got probably the third heaviest hands at HW behind Ngannou and JDS.

Up until Francis said "fuck ISIS! fuck racism!" in his post fight I was fully on Team Stipe. Now it's murky at best.

I don't know who to root for man. They both seem like legitimately fantastic human beings, they're both incredible to watch in the cage every time they fight and they're both great ambassadors for the sport. Gun to my head I lean Stipe because I've rooted for him since his first UFC fight because he was a Cro Cop disciple.

Good news is that they're both (relatively) young as far as cumulative fight minutes so we're probably gonna see the matchup more than once.

I like Francis, and there’s no doubt he has power, but I think he’s being a little overhyped after the Reem KO. I’m not saying it wasn’t impressive, but honestly at this point a stiff breeze could put Overreem to sleep.

I don't know man. He's been hit good a few times and still stood. He was completely lights out from a glancing blow.

I am stunned that anyone would debate the fragility of Reem's chin at this point.

Still find it humorous that so many people got so bent out of shape around the time Overeem signed with the UFC, and I downplayed the hype surrounding his striking ability. Everyone was so convinced he was unbeatable with his "K-1 level striking"!

I am talking about two things:

1. Overeem has a notoriously weak chin and I think it's weird that anyone (you) would debate that at this point.
2. When Overeem first came to the UFC there was a huge debate in this thread about how good he was, based largely on his K-1 resume. It turns out, he did not live up to the expectations of many posters in this thread.

Hope that clarifies things for you.

I really wonder how much time Reem has left. He's been in MMA a long time. Taken a lot of damage. But at the same time he is very much an any-given-night type of fighter, that depending on the matchup and his performance, could absolutely win the belt. The Stipe fight may well have ended in Overeem's favor if he hadn't given up top position going for that stupid guillotine.

He also has a crazy contract. He makes a shit load of money per fight. No real reason to quit besides the embarrassment of getting KO'd often.
