Anyone ever shoot or currently shoot on an M6? If so, how is it?
I want to step out of my point and shoot and go full rangefinder. I also have a voigtlander 45mm that I'd try to mount on the body

Pricey, but worth it if rangefinders suit your style. If you don't need a meter, go with an older model to save some money. Also, make sure that 45mm trips the right frame lines, as the M6 has 35mm and 50mm frame lines that the lenses trigger automatically. Incredible camera, but if this is your first step into rangefinders, consider the voigtlander bessa line or the leica CL/CLE if you don't want to spend as much.

As for the actual operation of the camera, it's one of the simplest, most "out of the way" cameras I've ever used. Once you get the mindset of shooting with them, it just lets you work without a bunch of things to think about while you're shooting.

All my tour documentary and most studio doc stuff is shot with an M6: http://www.reidhaithcock.com/

I bought five rolls of Fuji Superia 1600. It should be here by Friday and this is going to be juicy.

Shot some of the New 55 4x5 instant film on a wild job this past weekend in Brooklyn. Some technical hiccups, but it looks fucking awesome and has the spirit of the old Polaroid type 55 film. Any large format heads should check it out! I'll post some shots once they're live

Doing some backpacking in the Rockies at the end of September. I kind of want to just bring my G2 and shoot film the whole time. Film stock recommendations? Leaning towards Portra 160/400 and maybe pushing 160 a bit.

Not sure about the impossible but probably unlikely. If your other film is under 800 ISO you should be ok

Wanting to take Film more serious and needing a new camera. I've got probably around a $600 budget. Trying to keep it modest, but something decent enough. I've gone through a couple AE-1's and would definitely like something more reliable and a touch better. Something with metering would be great, too. If anyone has any recommendations, that would be awesome.

I've had a Pentax K-1000 for most of my 35mm SLR stuff but within the last year I've acquired a Nikon F3. Both cameras have been great but the Nikon adds a bit more by having interchangeable viewfinders. The Nikon's seem to be picking up in popularity as well because I've seen a ton of people posting about them recently. Both should be well within your budget with a lens or two

Awesome. I will look into that to begin. I appreciate it. My wind levers always seem to lock up/break on my AE-1's, so I am just ready for something a bit more reliable. Thanks!

There's a concern that comes up with the Nikon F3 that if it's older and hasn't been cleaned properly then the shutter release button may have some dust/dirt underneath it and it may not press down fully, it's an easy fix but something that I've noticed people asking about lately.

edit: you'll also have a front release button that shoots at 1/60 in case that does happen, may just have to adjust your aperture for that one shot. This issue has come up with my camera but it's sporadic and rare.

Shot a roll of Cinestill 800 recently, didn't roll it properly once I was finished so there are some pretty crazy light leaks on most of the roll... Their website warns about this and it's no joke haha. But, it's great for low light cinematic film.

I've got a contax TVS I'm selling. Only issue with it is that the film counter screen has LCD bleed.

I've noticed that I'm already starting to worry about the impending doom of winter so I'm trying to shoot a whole bunch before I become too much of a hermit. I've also been sitting on 4-5 rolls of 35mm summer stuff that still need to be developed and it's driving me crazy that I don't have the time or money for it right now

Cross post from the "photo thread".

Folks who shoot and have regularly shot hardcore shows, I'm gonna go catch a slew of bands this coming week at Brooklyn Bazaar (backtrack, dtn, vein, etc). I've really never shot hardcore shows, only played them. Anyone have pointers for ways not to annoy/piss people off while being able to get good content? I'm pretty unsure of the boundaries here and don't want to figuratively step on people's toes or piss bands off by getting up in their shit. Like I said, this is new territory for me, so I'd love any input. And if you've shot at Brooklyn Bazaar, I'd love to know your experience and if you have any additional pointers.

Thank you!

From the shows I've shot, people are usually understanding of the photographer trying to get the shot. Just don't be in the way and don't get mad if somebody bumps into you.
