Dude, Matt brought some some into work the other day and nobody really went for them, so I had three and they were all incredibly good. I'm going to try and swing by Saturday morning.

Sorry i'm a pussy for not going through the 90 pages, but I'm originally from the east coast and in Vancouver for the summer so i've never really been in the PNW. Thinking of coming down here this weekend. What are some cool food spots and things a first-timer should see? Is Voodoo Doughnuts a tourist-only kinda thing?

There are two VooDoo locations. The downtown location is definitely more touristy, people line up for hours outside. It's in a pretty shitty area and I don't see the appeal. The other location off Sandy Blvd is much less crowded. Pro tip-avoid the urge to get donuts with cereal on top (always stale). Definitely much better doughnut options in town. I know there's a beer festival this weekend but not sure what else is going on.

voodoo is ok if you like donuts with a lot of stuff on it/very sugary. its fine for what it is, i prefer annies or Pips for that style. if youre looking for i guess what you could consider "gourmet" donuts, check out blue star and Doe.

Lonesomes Pizza makes some of the best pizza I've ever had. Their breadsticks are incredible too, skip on the wings though, they seemed to have confused turkey drumsticks for wings. If you're vegan you might want to stick with Sizzle Pie.

You can throw a rock here and hit a decent thai place.

Nong's Khao Man Gai pretty much only serves a chicken and rice dish with a soup side, but it's legitimately so damn good there are multiple locations.

For Mexican you're pretty much shit out of luck unless you venture past 82nd ave which is pretty much 40/50 blocks past all the areas tourists would want to hang out.

So bummed Mac and Cheesery isn't around anymore, only got to go twice but it was bomb both times, definitely a place I would recommend to visitors.

what part of the east coast are ya from?
if you check out pc-pdx.com theres some show listings. I'd recommend checking out Off The Griddle on se foster or Blackwater if youre into vegetarian stuff, also Exiled Records and Green Noise for some cool stuff as well.

There's plenty of good mexican food below 82nd.

-Ole Frijole at 42nd and Killingsworth is the fucking best.
-El Burrito Azteca in NoPo on Rosa Parks & Denver has giant burritos for like $5.
-La Bonita also in NoPo on Killingsworth and Greeley-ish is also really good but a bit pricey.
-Acapulco's Gold in the NW on Vaughn st. has an incredible nachos and super strong margaritas.

There's also a place fight off MLK by the Boys & Girls club that I can't think of the name of that is dirt cheap and delicious.

It's been tough finding an employer who wants to hire someone a nearly month out who lives across the country, but I have a few leads. I have enough saved up where I can survive a month or so if worse comes to worse.

I'm on the fence about going to catch this in Berkley. Probably going to just catch it here. I haven't seen CBK in about 14 years ago this should be fun.
