-Devil Rays picked up $10 mil option on Carl Crawford
-Bradley involved in a possible 3 way deal with Mets and Blue Jays
-Giants tell Winn to take a hike. Bummed about this because although his bat is non-existent, his defensive is highly underrated and should be a gold glover.

he was definitely overpaid but one of the best defensive OF in mlb and played in a tough RF ballpark. but it had to be done and i know sabean will do something stupid with that extra $9 mil

Yankees already named in connection with Lackey.

Red Sox told Varitek to go fuck his 5mil option, he has 48 hours to pick up his player option.

The Mets would be doing great in that Bradley deal, then they probably sign Figgins to play 2b.

Even though he's borderline terrible, 2/5 for Wakefield is a steal

I'm extremely interested in seeing how this Martinez/Varitek stuff plays out. V-Mart got his option picked up almost instantly. They passed on Teks.

I'm sure Theo is just trying to get Varitek to accept a 1mil or so buyout on his option.

Also, why is Chapman listed as a Red Sox player on Trade Rumors 2010 Free Agent list?

That's their predictions. That's why Lackey's a Yankee and Holliday is a met.

Yeah, I saw that, but these proxies fuck my ability to post quickly.
I wonder if Holliday is gonna stay in a city for longer than a year at any point in the near future.

I thought the yankees were the big name after Chapman?

I think I'd rather have Lackey and another quality OF

He had one bad month in Oakland. He put up about an .825ops the next 2+ months in that horrible building.

I'd take him way before Bay.

yeah I didnt realize he turned it on that much after that start

I dont think there is any way the Cards let him go though.... there isnt another big bat FA out there to protect Pujos

I dont think the yankees will be signing matsui or damon so i expect them to get one of the big name OF and prob lackey

They'll probably offer Damon arbitration. He'd probably get about 15mil in arbitration, and he's a type A if someone offers him a multi-year deal.

Matsui probably walks, unless Damon goes elsewhere and Hideki will take about 6-8mil + incentives.

Also if I remember right does the fact that TB picked up the Crawford option leave somebody out in the cold as far as being resigned? I thought I remember them having to make a decision on 1 of 2 but dont remember

Damon is not worth 15 million

rebuild, find somebody cheaper and younger

we could have had Abreu for 2 years at that price

Burrell won't be back, that's about it.

They still could trade Crawford and bring up Desmond Jennings.

One year@15mil is ok for Damon.

There really isn't going to be anyone cheaper and younger. At least not nearly as good as Damon.

Thing is you don't even know if you would get him for a whole year.

I'd love to see the yankees move Hughes of Joba in a deal for crawford

If they offered Hughes or Joba for Crawford then Tampa would be retarded not to do that. They wouldn't put Hughes or Joba in a deal for Johan Santana or Roy Halladay.

Damon's never played fewer than 140 games, he's a pretty good bet to have all year.

That was a year ago..... I don't think Hughes or Joba really panned out as expected

But yea that is a lot to offer up for 1/2 a year service.

Phil Hughes is 23, Joba Chamberlain is 24. It'd be extremely short-sighted to trade either for anyone who's not a more or less sure thing signed past 2011 or so.

Bradley to Toronto
Castillo to the Cubs
Overbay to the Mets

castillo had a great bounce back year last season, hit over .300, led the league in sac bunts, and ever since the meltdown against the yanks he played really good D.

the mets also came out and said they will be players in all big name players.

jj putz's option was declined, so he is gone. i'm interested to see how this new team can fuck up this year.

it all depends how motivated he will be. he came into camp much lighter last year, and worked harder, therefore had a much better season than 08. i would expect the same thing this season.

Omar's supposedly talking to Putz about coming back cheap. Even if Castillo did better defensively after that error, he was still the worst second baseman in baseball with the fourth worst ops.

If they could get rid of him, and the 12mil they owe him, they'd be better off.

I guess, but if they can trade him for one year of Overbay then they should.

Then use the money saved towards Holliday. Then Omar can get a guy he's wanted for years, Figgins, to play 2b.

The Phillies decline a club option on Pedro Feliz. They will be persuing a 3B in the offseason. No leading canadiates have been confirmed but rumors are swirling between Mark Derosa or Adrain Beltre (lets hope not on Beltre).

Brett Myers has been told by GM Rueben Amaro that he will not be back next year with the club.

As far as starting pitching is concerned Amaro said it is not a priority right now for the club. I hope the Phillies persue Heath Bell for bullpen help.

Manny went with a $20 mil 1 yr option

I get a good feeling that Matsui will be back in pinstripes and this was before the postseason.

As somebody said before, I would be shocked if Yanks let Joba or Phil go for just somebody average although I can't really stand either.

Adrian Beltre walked 19 times last year in 449 AB's

that ratio isnt going to help this team....

I would rather go after somebody else like Chone Figgins or Adam Kennedy
